CROSSROADS ACADEMY serves adolescent boys 14-18 years old in three residential homes in Ogden, UT. As primarily a substance use program Crossroads Academy emphasizes adventure living and “The Seven Challenges”.
CROSSROADS YOUNG ADULT TRANSITION PROGRAM treats young adult men, ages 18-26, with diagnoses most commonly involving substance use.
The extent of addiction has often impacted relationships at home, caused legal issues, and disrupted their ability to be independent and pursue education or employment.
Client diagnoses include:
– Substance Use Disorders
– Mood Disorders (e.g. Depression)
– Anxiety Disorders (e.g. Social Anxiety Disorder)
– ADHD
– Oppositional Defiant Disorder
These disorders manifest in:
– interpersonal difficulties
– isolation/avoidance
– lack of social skills
– impulsivity
– executive functioning deficits
– lack of direction/motivation
– emotion dysregulation
– anger
– lying/stealing
Crossroads is based on a motivational enhancement approach (Evidence-Based Treatment), grounded in client autonomy. Equally important is Relational Psychotherapy where therapists and staff empower clients to create healthy relationships. Utilizing individual, group, and family therapy clients receive a personalized treatment plan, which is facilitated daily by the consistent presence of therapists and staff.
Crossroads is known for its emphasis on outdoor adventure to cultivate passions and living life in the moment. This is accomplished through snowboarding, wake-boarding/surfing, rock climbing, skate boarding, backpacking and hiking.
