Pure Life Adolescent Program Is Officially Launched

In the spring of 2022, Pure Life Adventure announced the opening of an additional adventure therapy program geared towards adolescents aged 15-17. The program was launched with a group of four (4) adolescents who have found the adventure experience engaging and cultural immersion impactful.
In this program, students participate in outdoor adventures that test their emotional resiliency and build their confidence as they try (and succeed!) at learning new things as they are immersed in a new cultural environment. Those who decide to attend Pure Life’s adventure therapy program can expect a busy and engaging 80-90 day stay in Costa Rica where they will learn to surf, whitewater raft, backpack, experience cultural homestays, participate in local service projects, and equine therapy. Each session will also involve parents with weekly calls, check-ins with field therapists as well as an in-person parent visit to Costa Rica.
Through this new adolescent program, Pure Life could extend the same life-changing benefits that they currently offer to their adult clients, to a younger age group. Andrew Taylor, the founder of Pure Life Adventures, had always known that adventure therapy could help a wide range of individuals, but it wasn’t until COVID hit that work slowed down enough for him to fine-tune a therapy model specifically designed for 15 to 17-year-olds.
Now that the program is officially launched, with its first year well underway, Pure Life is now accepting students into their new adolescent programming. The current adventure therapy model is fitting for all those who are seeking a unique therapy experience for life-long changes. In fact, their model is so well organized and relevant that Pure Life is able to coordinate with local high schools back home to help transfer their learning abroad into high school credits.
Since its inception nine years ago, Pure Live has been 100% focused on helping young adults and adults facing very real challenges create lasting change. While young adults have been the focus of Pure Life since the onset, they have always seen a great need for therapy for all ages. Taylor said, “We get many phone calls from referral partners and parents asking if we can take adolescents, and now we can.”
Because Pure Life Adventure’s bicultural team provides a therapeutically sophisticated and holistic approach, they can help adolescents with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, lack of motivation, executive function deficits, trauma, and substance abuse. It is a proven model, fitting for all those who are seeking a unique therapy experience for life-long changes.
