Pure Life Adventure Celebrates 10 Years
Pure Life Adventure opened in April 2013 and in the last ten years has served over 500 families in Costa Rica. Pure Life has worked hard to provide a rich therapeutic experience that includes outdoor adventure activities, cultural immersion, education, and service-learning in this beautiful and extraordinary country.
“We are celebrating our 10th anniversary and are as busy as ever,” says founder Andrew Taylor. “We are so grateful to the many families, students, and professionals that have trusted us with their loved ones over the years. We are proud to be continuously innovating and adapting to the growing needs and challenges that young adults and adolescents are facing. I believe we’re giving our students the very best experience we can in Costa Rica.”
Allan Capp, owner and program director says, “We have made a conscious effort to remain small, so we can continue to focus on our quality of care and ensure we are always working with the right students.”
Mara Mueller, owner and clinical director says, “It’s always been important to us that our students are part of the admissions process and play a role in choosing the outdoors to get healthy. We believe it makes a big difference in the outcomes and the overall experience for themselves, their parents, and their peers.”
Serving young adults was the cornerstone of Pure Life for the first nine years and in the summer of 2022, they opened their program up to adolescents and have seen great success helping students ages 15-17 and their families. Limited spots remain for this age group for Summer 2023.
“Society and the challenges that people face have evolved a lot in the last ten years. Our students and their parents are facing different issues than they were ten years ago. We have worked hard to make sure our programming is ever-evolving to meet those needs. We’ve created a program that people can trust while also providing a dynamic and challenging experience which is key to our modality,” says Andrew.
Pure Life has also worked hard to give back to Costa Rica along the way and has sponsored and hosted various local young adult and youth groups on week-long itineraries. Whether surfing or backpacking, many young Costa Ricans haven’t been able to experience some of the life-changing experiences that Pure Life students experience. Pure Life looks forward to continuing to find creative ways to introduce local Costa Ricans to adventure therapy as a part of their contribution to the beautiful country.
The Pure Life team remains grateful to the country of Costa Rica and the wonderful staff who have worked for them over the years, many of whom are still with the program.
