ROOTs Transition Opens in Park City, Utah

ROOTs Transition is a new therapeutic program for teenage girls ages 14-18 located in Park City, UT. ROOTs provides treatment in a residential, home-like setting and blends elements of outdoor and adventure therapy together with family support and community building.
Kami Black, LCSW, Owner, Founder, and Executive Director of ROOTs, stated, “For a long time I have dreamed of a program that will be a place of healing for both families and students. Too often we forget that we are all human and need to be seen, heard, and honored.” ROOTs, short for Reclaiming Our Original Truths, is a community that focuses on helping girls find themselves, not just fix behaviors. Eliza Hitz, the Parent Clinical Director at ROOTs, said, “Our clients and their families have an amazing opportunity to work together to discover a deeper connection, a shared purpose, and to forge a new path forward.”
Utilizing a hybrid outdoor model, ROOTs clients are guided in finding a deeper connection with themselves through outdoor and adventure engagement and community involvement. With a focus on family support, parents will receive their own therapist, separate from the child’s primary therapist, who will provide clinical guidance and structure to their own personal journey toward healing. All staff trained in the NeuroAffective Relational Model, ROOTs offers a true trauma-informed program able to meet students and families where they are in their process.
