Solstice East Welcomes Kristina Burgess as Primary Therapist

Solstice East, a residential treatment center for female and transgender students ages 14-17, is excited to welcome Primary Therapist Kristina Burgess. Kristina comes to Solstice East with a reputation for success with adolescents in residential treatment, intensive in-home treatment, and crisis management services. Her experience ranges from students struggling with developmental trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, OCD, and learning disabilities. Kristina graduated with a Master of Science in Clinical and Community Mental Health from Western Illinois University in 2017.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kristina,” says Executive Director, Danielle Andrews, “Kristina embraces the value of milieu-based interventions, collaboration to ensure continuity of care for students, and perfectly timed clinical strategies to help youth grow and thrive.”
The clinical model of Solstice East is relationship-based and trauma-informed to promote long-term growth and healing. Students receive a combination of individual, family, and group therapy sessions each week. Specialty groups include addictive processing, social communication, substance abuse, trauma recovery, grief counseling, building positive body image and self-esteem, experiential DBT, identity development, and equine therapy.
