STRīV Welcomes New Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to the Professional Team

Orem, UT: Strive Forward (STRīV), a young adult transition program in Orem, Utah, is thrilled to welcome Dr. Kristen Brown and Clint Peterson, APRN, to the professional team.
“What a privilege it is, having these experienced, dedicated professionals on the team,” said Dr. Clark Hammond, Co-founder and Executive Director of STRīV. He continued, “In the area of psychiatric oversight, we’re fortunate to have this truly ‘dynamic duo’ working with our students in this ever-important area.”
Dr. Kristen Brown received her doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Utah specializing in psychiatric mental health. With her drive to help others find hope and recovery, she has worked in the mental health field since 2009. Her doctoral internship centered on mental health issues including impulse-control disorders, addiction, mood disorders, anxiety, and ADHD.
Dr. Brown’s educational foundation includes one bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine (Brigham Young University) and a second bachelor’s degree in Nursing (Utah Valley University) – two areas of study that prepared her well for her doctoral studies and current roles. She is passionate about helping others through connection and supportive relationships and recognizes how family dynamics often play a critical role in achieving hope and healing.
Clint Peterson is a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He obtained a Bachelor’s in Nursing Sciences (Utah Valley University) and in 2012, completed a master’s degree in the rigorous specialty to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (University of Utah).
Clint has experienced nearly every facet of nursing education throughout his long career, beginning as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CAN), and continued advancing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a Registered Nurse (RN), and now an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with specialized training in psychiatric mental health. He has spent the last six years in community mental health providing psychiatric diagnosis and medication management for patients struggling with a variety of mental health disorders. He has a passion for hard work and personal accountability. He is a strong advocate for his patients and strives to empower them to find their own path to healing.
With STRīV’s emphasis on helping young adults navigate the social, emotional, and therapeutic challenges of launching into adulthood, as well as their individualized, collaborative approach to the process, the working alliance established with both Clint and Dr. Brown is a partnership that will undoubtedly provide tremendous value to the students enrolled at STRīV.
