Muir Wood Adolescent & Family Services is a residential treatment program designed specifically for teens ages 12-17 suffering with mental health and substance abuse issues.

The Muir Wood environment helps build strong peer relationships essential in early recovery, many of which blossom into enduring friendships. Our programs fill a crucial need by making mental healthcare available to the vast majority of families in need.

The Licensed Therapist is responsible for providing residential addiction and mental health treatment as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, and will report directly to the Clinical Director and serve as part of the clinical management team. The Therapist fulfills direct service, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention. Additionally, the Therapist directly interfaces with our young residents and their families, facilitates individual and group therapy, coordinates 12-Step programming, management of daily milieu, and provides leadership to the support staff. The Therapist will hold a caseload of a minimum of 3 clients, run group therapy sessions, and participate in weekly treatment team meetings.

  • Conduct assessments of clients at admission and re-assessments as required
  • Conduct ACRQ at time of admission and at time of discharge
  • Conduct twice weekly individual therapy sessions with assigned caseload
  • Communicates with third-party insurance provider upon admission (or as necessary)
  • Maintains comprehensive clinical documentation that meets or exceeds relevant legal, ethical, and accreditation standards
  • Responsible for providing direct therapeutic services in the form of diagnostic assessments and treatment for all clients
  • Provide weekly group therapy with residents as needed and directed by Clinical Director
  • Facilitate Treatment Planning in the absence of the Clinical Director
  • Working knowledge of KIPU electronic health records and CARF charting standards
  • Responsible for parent/Referent communication and case management for client caseload (with client’s written consent)
  • Knowledge of current legal standards pertaining to professional practice, reporting requirements, professional boundaries, and related issues
  • Provide in-service training to staff and trainees on topics as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor, etc.


  • Masters-level therapist or equivalent, Licensed Ph.D, PsyD, LMFT, LCSW or LPCC preferred.
  • Experience working in substance abuse treatment, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Holds a current license registration issued by appropriate state agency.
  • A valid CA driver license, a clean driving record and the ability to transport clients in vehicles
  • TB required and health screen, along with CPR and first aid
