At Newport Academy, each teen’s individualized treatment plan takes into account their psychological history, current circumstances, family situation, and learning needs, and includes a variety of evidence-based modalities. Our campuses and treatment are separated by gender, as research shows that this approach results in greater commitment to healing and more effective recovery. Patients’ weekly schedules include individual, group, and family therapy, utilizing Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Our approach recognizes that the family is an essential part of the healing process, and we use Attachment-Based Family Therapy to repair parent-child relationships and restore family harmony. In experiential and expressive therapy groups, teens process emotions and memories with hands-on approaches. Adventure Therapy, which takes place in beautiful outdoor settings, is a cornerstone of our experiential offerings. Residents also spend structured time in the classroom each day, and with tutors as necessary, so they can continue to make academic progress during treatment. We work closely with teachers and school administrators at patients’ home schools to meet our shared goals of nurturing teens’ love of learning, advancing their progress, and giving them the executive functioning and organizational skills to be more engaged, inspired, and successful when they return to the school environment. The sooner we reach teens, the sooner we can help them create the foundation for a thriving life.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to empower teens and restore families. Our mental health–primary treatment addresses the underlying causes of destructive behaviors—the trauma and abandonment wounds that catalyze depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and co-occurring issues such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and self-harm. Newport Academy’s comprehensive, integrated approach guides teens ages 12 and up and their families to achieve long-term, sustainable healing. Based in clinical expertise and compassionate care, our whole-person treatment model takes into account the physical, psychological, social, educational, and spiritual needs of adolescents. Across the full continuum of care—including residential, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and continuing care—we offer a blend of evidence-based modalities and experiential therapies that support teens in building authentic connection with self, restoring harmony in the family system, & developing supportive relationships with peers. By consistently gathering and analyzing data on our industry-leading outcomes, we’re able to make more strategic and tailored decisions for our patients and ensure that our care is truly evidence based. Data collected on our programs by third-party researchers, using industry-accepted assessment tools, shows consistent positive outcomes in measures of well-being, depression, & anxiety, with patients’ improvements, on average, exceeding levels of clinical significance during and after treatment.
