Uinta Academy’s Trip to Bryce Canyon National Park: Exciting Adventure Programming

Uinta Academy employs the transtheoretical stages of change to guide students on their healing journey. When students reach a significant milestone in this process, they’re offered a unique opportunity to join their peers on a three-day excursion. This year, the destination was Bryce Canyon National Park, an adventure-filled setting that encourages students to venture beyond their comfort zones, embrace novel experiences, and foster collective growth.
While hiking the Navajo Loop, embarking on the mossy cave hike, and dining with a view at the Fairyland Outlook, students reconnected with themselves and their peers in an environment free from judgment or competition. Uinta’s professionals, including staff, therapists, and teachers, accompany the students on these adventure trips. Dynamic team participation ensures that the students feel supported while allowing educators to better understand the students’ needs and behaviors in a different context.
This holistic expedition offered students—who have often been constrained by anxiety, depression, and negative self-beliefs—a chance to challenge themselves, develop life skills, explore their interests, and build resilience.
Uinta Academy’s transformative trip to Bryce Canyon National Park highlights the program’s engaging opportunities for healing and growth. Out-of-the-box programming is part of the progressive and community-focused approach at Uinta. By offering students opportunities to flourish, explore, and connect with the world around them, Uinta equips them with the skills and experiences to navigate the complexities of life beyond therapy, reinforcing their mission of nurturing change in the lives of young women.
