Valley View School Achieves National Accreditation
Valley View School is proud to announce that it has achieved national accreditation through the Council on Accreditation (COA). This achievement resulted from 18 months of effort and hard work by many staff members. In November 2023, a two-day site visit was held on the Valley View campus. During the exit interview, the reviewer described Valley View as “an excellent, unique program”. Three weeks after the site visit, Valley View received notice of receiving full accreditation through an expedited process “as a result of not receiving any out-of-compliance ratings in any of the fundamental practice standards”.
Kim Beatson, Board Assistant Treasurer, and former VVS Business Manager, and Thomas Nowak, PhD, Director of Admissions and Clinical Supervision spearheaded the accreditation process. Dr Nowak states “This has been a very worthwhile process for our school. From the beginning, our leadership focused on the benefits of this process rather than lamenting the effort and expense involved”. Ms. Beatson recently offered her perspective. “We do great work at Valley View and achieving accreditation has validated that fact. In addition, the process has helped us identify areas for potential growth”.
Given the recent critiques of adolescent residential care in the popular press, programs need to demonstrate professional standards, and Valley View School is pleased to have been recognized for this highest level of professionalism and competency.
