Valley View School Names a New Associate Director

Valley View School is pleased to announce that Rick May has been named its new Associate Director. Rick will be in charge of day-to-day operations at the school as of July 2021. This appointment is a culmination of 22 years of exemplary work at Valley View. Rick began his career at the school at age 22 as a residential counselor, spent 7 years as a history teacher, and has been the Director of Academics for the last 10 years.
Dr. Thomas Nowak, Executive Director at Valley View states, “I have worked closely with Rick for 10 years. He relates to students and staff extremely well, has excellent judgment, a thorough knowledge of our program, and a great sense of humor – a necessary trait when working with adolescents, in my opinion. I am delighted to have Rick in this important position and look forward to working with him as we face the challenges to come.”
Other roles that Rick has played at Valley View include athletic director, coach, student advisor, staff trainer, and aiding the admissions department. Rick’s wife, Shannon, has also worked at Valley View for the last 20 years and is currently teaching science.
With regard to his promotion, Rick stated, “I have been fortunate to be part of helping make a difference with many of our students and their families throughout the years, and I am honored to be named Associate Director of Valley View School.”
