Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap Year Adds Culinary Badge
At Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap Year, students have the opportunity to work on several different vocational projects during their stay. They can choose between auto mechanics, carpentry, and welding. All these vocational pursuits are awarded micro-certifications by the State of Idaho Skill Stack program. Wisdom Ranch is excited to announce the addition of a culinary badge to its options.
Young adults attending Wisdom Ranch have always had plenty of opportunities to cook in the kitchen. The weekly schedule includes cooking rotations for all the program participants. After much determination from Bill VanLente, Program Director, the program now offers a badge for culinary arts. This badge includes learning various cooking methods, knife safety, kitchen tools and equipment, menu items, and recipe techniques. The culinary training is an excellent addition to the other offerings in the program.
Many young people in the program begin with little to no interest in vocational training, and most have yet to gain any experience. Greater knowledge and confidence in feeding oneself is an immeasurable benefit to autonomy. Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap Year is proud to assist its young people in their paths toward independence.
