Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap Year Welcomes Visitors

Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap Year is grateful for the time spent in April with referring professionals and educational consultants during the Autism Symposium in Sun Valley, Idaho. The Ranch was lucky enough to host close to 30 visitors during the event. Idaho was still suffering from leftover winter, but the sun was out, and the roads were clear to allow visitors onsite. Visitors were treated to a home-cooked apple pie made by students at the Ranch.
Once onsite, visitors were able to walk through the lodge. The lodge contains all the bedrooms, a commercial-grade kitchen, a large community space with a pool table, a big-screen TV, and some of the most beautiful views on the Ranch. Various students have helped with an extensive remodel of the basement space, which was ready to showcase as well. “We know time is a finite resource, and we are grateful to have spent some with our friends and colleagues. We also look forward to hosting many more onsite during the upcoming spring and summer months,” says Jill Allen, CEO Brightstone Transitions.
Our guests were also treated to classes in the shop. The lessons were shown by students and focused on our main areas of interest: welding, carpentry/woodworking, and auto and small engine mechanics. Some time was spent watching and listening to a lesson on job and career readiness. Students and instructors alike were onsite to teach and show visitors what a day in the life on the Ranch looks like. Visitors also had the opportunity to brand a leather luggage tag using a branding iron as we wrapped up the day.
