Wisdom Ranch Year Expands Vocational Offerings
Wisdom Ranch Vocational Gap year has added several certifications available to its students through an expanded curriculum. Through the College of Southern Idaho and the Idaho Skill Stack program, students will be able to earn additional certifications (“badges”) in auto mechanics, welding, and carpentry.
In each of these program areas, students can now learn the fundamentals of Project Planning and Management.
“As our students learn the hands-on skills that we teach, they inevitably come up with ideas for significant projects. Adding Project Planning and Management to our curriculum gives our students the experience of being in charge and being accountable for results,” said Monte MacConnell, Owner and Executive Director.
Project Planning and Management teaches students the basics of submitting a written proposal with scope, timelines, goals, and objectives. Students will also be required to identify and detail all resources required as well as their sources.
“We want to give our students the real-world experience of working within a budget and understanding that raw material costs can fluctuate during the project itself,” said MacConnell.
Carpentry students will use these skills shortly and are already beginning to sketch out a plan for a new barn on the property to be completed this spring.
