Raleigh, NC — April 2026 — JET ED Consulting’s Senior Therapeutic Educational Consultant, Missy Steffens, served as a panelist at the 2026 Partners in Treatment (PIT) Conference on April 23, 2026, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
From Uncertainty to Alignment: How Interventionists, Educational Consultants, Therapeutic Consultants, and Treatment Providers Co-Create Sustainable Pathways to Healing
Moderated by Megan Harrison, LMFT, CEO of Anew Treatment Center, the panel also featured Christi Lardieri of Journey Toward Peace and Bobbi Horne, Interventionist. Together, the panelists represented leading professional organizations across the therapeutic consulting, educational consulting, and intervention communities, including the Therapeutic Consultant Association (TCA), the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS).
The discussion focused on the critical pre-admission work that occurs before a client enters treatment and how thoughtful collaboration between consultants, interventionists, clinicians, families, and treatment providers can significantly impact treatment engagement and long-term outcomes.
Topics explored during the session included:
- Building alignment with families and clients during periods of crisis and uncertainty
- Navigating anxiety, ambivalence, and systemic family stress during the admission process
- Ethical and effective collaboration between consultants, interventionists, and treatment programs
- The importance of communication structures and coordinated support during the early stages of treatment
- Preparing families for the realities of treatment, transition, and ongoing recovery
The panel emphasized that alignment does not necessarily mean a family or client feels fully ready for treatment. Rather, successful outcomes are often strengthened when all members of the support system share clear expectations, communicate collaboratively, and follow a unified framework for care.
“It was an incredibly thoughtful and interactive conversation centered on partnership,” said Steffens. “Families are often navigating fear, uncertainty, and emotional overwhelm during these moments. When professionals collaborate well and communicate consistently, we create a stronger foundation for both engagement and long-term healing.”
The Partners in Treatment Conference brings together professionals from across the behavioral health, therapeutic placement, and educational consulting fields to advance collaboration and improve outcomes for individuals and families navigating complex mental health and therapeutic care systems.
