Black Pines Life Celebrates Program Milestones, Welcomes New Staff Member, and Announces Two Open Enrollment Spots Ahead of Summer

Black Pines Life, a transitional living program for young men ages 18 to 25 based in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, is announcing several updates heading into the summer season. The program currently serves two young men who are actively working part-time jobs, building independent living skills, and recently took on a garden at the house as a hands-on expression of the ownership and responsibility the program is built around. Black Pines has also welcomed a new team member to its staff, a passionate mentor with a love for the outdoors who brings fresh energy and genuine investment in the young men he works alongside. With the addition of new staff and the natural movement of the program, Black Pines currently has two open enrollment spots available for qualified young men ready to do the work.

As summer approaches, Black Pines is preparing to take full advantage of Utah's terrain through camping trips, hikes, and mountain bike rides that serve as both community-building experiences and intentional opportunities to develop grit, resilience, and connection. These outdoor activities are a core part of the Black Pines approach, reinforcing the program's six pillars of independent living, employment and education, health and wellness, social and communication skills, purpose and identity, and community engagement in an environment that challenges young men beyond the walls of the house.

"Black Pines is designed to be small on purpose," said Kolby, Program Director and Co-Founder of Black Pines Life. "Every young man who comes through our doors gets real attention, real relationships, and real accountability. We are not here to make things easy for them. We are here to walk alongside them while they prove to themselves that they can do hard things. That is what this program is about, and moments like watching our guys plant a garden or show up to work consistently remind us exactly why we do it."
