Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness is pleased to welcome Michael Tozzi, LMFT, to the clinical team. Michael brings extensive experience in outdoor behavioral healthcare, psychotherapy, and family systems work, along with a longstanding commitment to supporting adolescents, young adults, and families across a range of clinical settings.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Michael earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Colorado State University before completing his Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. His professional background includes several years working in outdoor therapeutic programs throughout Utah and Colorado, where he supported adolescents in nature-based treatment settings. Through this work, he developed a deep appreciation for the role that intentional community, structured challenge, and experiential therapeutic work can play in fostering emotional growth, self-awareness, and resilience.
Michael's clinical approach is grounded in psychodynamic and family systems theory, with an emphasis on individualized care, relational connection, and practical skill development. Mike believes effective therapeutic work involves understanding the broader context of thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and family dynamics, as well as helping individuals build sustainable tools for long-term growth beyond treatment.
As a family systems-oriented clinician, Michael values collaborative work that engages the entire family throughout the therapeutic process. His work focuses on strengthening communication, rebuilding trust, and supporting healthier patterns of connection within the family system. This approach aligns closely with Blue Ridge’s commitment to integrated, relationship-centered care and whole-family support.
Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness is excited to welcome Michael to the team and looks forward to the experience, insight, and clinical perspective he brings to the program.
