ViewPoint Center is a specialized, short-term psychiatric hospital that blends the 24-hour medical expertise of a clinical setting with the individualized attention of a small, home-like residential program. Designed for youth with complex diagnoses, ViewPoint provides a safe, secure (locked) environment where professionals can evaluate all aspects of a child’s life- socializing, academics, and daily routines- to form a complete diagnostic picture.

Because discharge from ViewPoint is considered a "handoff" rather than an endpoint, the goal is to give families deep diagnostic clarity and a concrete, long-term treatment plan.

ViewPoint Center utilizes a dual-track model to meet families exactly where they are in their mental health journey:

1. The Stabilization Track (7–21 Days):

Designed for youth experiencing acute challenges, crisis situations, disrupted placements, or severe regression at home. This short-term track offers a safe, structured environment for psychiatric and clinical recalibration. It often serves as a "step-back" option, allowing a student to stabilize, undergo medication evaluation, and regain their footing before returning to a prior program or stepping down to a new placement.

2. The Comprehensive Assessment Track (~8 Weeks)

is built for families seeking deeper answers to complex diagnostic questions. This multidisciplinary assessment process brings together psychiatry, neuropsychological testing, academic evaluations, and 24/7 social-emotional observation. At the end of the process, families receive a comprehensive Interdisciplinary Diagnostic Report (IDR), which clearly defines accurate diagnoses and outlines a customized master treatment plan for the child's next steps.

Clinical & Therapeutic Approach

ViewPoint provides intensive therapeutic support guided by licensed professionals. The clinical model includes:

  • Individual Therapy: Typically 2 hours per week.

  • Group Therapy: 3 hours of clinically facilitated group therapy and 5 hours of psychoeducational/processing groups per week.

  • Family Involvement: Families are highly involved, typically participating in 1 hour of formal family therapy via video conference weekly, alongside regular calls and workshops.

  • Modalities Used: CBT, DBT, EMDR, Neurofeedback, Occupational Therapy, and REBT (and call for more information about this).

  • Integrated Wellness: Includes art, breathing techniques, meditation, and yoga.

  • Medical Management: Managed by a multidisciplinary team including Medical Doctors, Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses (>50% of clients are on medication upon enrollment).

Academics & Student Life

ViewPoint ensures that a student's education does not stall during treatment. The program features a K-12 academic curriculum with a highly supportive 1:10 teacher-to-student ratio. Teachers are equipped to support students with learning challenges, including those who are more than two grade levels behind in reading. Students live in dorms featuring single rooms with private baths or double-occupancy rooms.

Transitions & Outcomes

ViewPoint measures its success by how well a student is prepared for their next environment. Following their assessment and stabilization, over 50% of clients successfully transition back home or to a more traditional setting (like a small boarding school). Transition planning is a core component of the program, ensuring parents have exactly what to do next. ViewPoint is also actively involved in evidence-based outcome research (YOQ) to continually measure and improve its effectiveness.
