Other Parents Like Me (OPLM), the largest online community supporting parents and caregivers of teens and young adults facing mental health challenges, has introduced the Healing Families Initiative, a dedicated fundraising effort to raise money so that cost is never a barrier to support. Running from November 12th through the end of the holiday season, the initiative is designed to ensure that every parent, regardless of financial circumstances, can access the OPLM platform for the connection and guidance they need during this emotionally demanding time of year.
For many families, the holidays arrive with a tender mix of love and quiet worry. The world moves into celebration, but parents supporting a struggling child often move into survival mode — trying to keep routines steady, holding on to hope, and gathering their strength when the weight of everything feels too heavy. Some want support but cannot reach for it. This is why OPLM is raising funds through the Healing Families Initiative.
“Parents are doing their best while carrying a tremendous amount of worry,” said Casie Fariello, Co-Founder and CEO of OPLM. “The Healing Families Initiative allows us to extend support to families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to join. Donations make that possible, and they truly make a difference in a parent’s life.”
Through the initiative, OPLM is broadening access to its core supports: 18 weekly live, peer-led groups, live Thursday Speaker Talks, and a private Resource Hub with a glossary, curated toolkits, and a vetted professional directory. This initiative — and the donations behind it — helps create moments of relief for families who need support the most.
“Every day, OPLM hears from parents who feel overwhelmed and alone,” Fariello added. “When a parent enters one of our groups and immediately feels understood, something shifts. This initiative—and the generosity behind it—helps create that moment for more families.”
The Healing Families Initiative continues throughout the holiday giving season, offering a way to extend a hand, heal a heart, and bring comfort to parents who are quietly carrying more than most people realize. Each contribution helps ensure that no parent has to walk this road alone.
